Women's Organizations in Fairfax County, VA: Services and Support

The Fairfax County Commission on Women and Girls is a dedicated organization that works to promote the well-being of women and girls in the county. The Commission conducts research on issues related to women and girls and provides policy recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. Taylor is honored to be a part of the Commission and is eager to support young women in the community. The Fairfax County Domestic Violence Action Center (DVAC) is a comprehensive service center with county agencies and partner nonprofit organizations.

It provides culturally responsive information and support services to victims of domestic and sexual violence, harassment, and sexual trafficking in persons and their families. Meyer and the City Council presented Leslie Pfeifer, owner of The Quilt Patch, with a proclamation for her long career as a member of the Fairfax business community and her generous contributions to those in need in the community. Simmy is passionate about making changes and advocating on behalf of women in Fairfax City. InovaCares Women's & Children's Clinic offers a variety of services for women in Fairfax County, including counseling, legal assistance, medical care, etc.

The clinic is located at 6400 Arlington Boulevard Falls Church VA 22042 and is open on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9am. The Office of Domestic and Sexual Violence Services for Women (OFWDSVS) serves Fairfax County residents who have been affected by domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking. The OFWDSVS is a full-service program that helps victims of domestic and sexual violence create safer lives. It also works with Fairfax County residents who have been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused against their spouse, partner, child, parent, or other family member.

This includes advising Fairfax City officials on legislative and political issues related to women and advocating for programs that appropriately address their needs. In addition to providing direct services to victims of domestic violence, the OFWDSVS also conducts community outreach and education efforts to raise awareness and prevent domestic and sexual violence in Fairfax County. In her spare time, Simmy enjoys cheering on her beloved JMU Dukes and the Baltimore Ravens, taking advantage of all the wonderful sights of Fairfax, preparing delicious treats for her family and friends, and volunteering at various local charities and community events focused on issues related to women's rights and animal welfare. The members of the Fairfax City Women's Commission received the proclamation from Meyer and Sandra Bromley, Fairfax Countywide Domestic Violence Coordinator, addressed the Council on the issue of domestic violence.
