If you are ready for new friends and interests, the Greater Reston Newcomers and Neighbors Club is for you!  This is a women’s social organization that has been active in the Reston area for many years.  All women of Northern Virginia, long time residents and newcomers are welcome to join.

The Club’s purpose is to extend a friendly, helping hand, to offer the opportunity to make new friends, find camaraderie, and enjoy a variety of creative, social, and recreational activities from September through June.  Most activities take place during the week.  However, on weekends we offer wine tasting, dinner groups and special event parties for members.  Members may invite guests at their own expense.

On the second Wednesday of each month, we schedule Get Acquainted coffees at a members’ home for all members, prospective members, and members’ guests.  The coffees provide a relaxed atmosphere to learn more about the club and to meet members.  You will meet women with similar interests and you will be able to find out how to enjoy life in our community.  This is not a club only for newcomers; we have many long time members.  At our May 2010 luncheon, we honored and recognized some members who have been in the club for as long as 30 years. 

On the third Thursday of each month at 10 a.m., we host a General Meeting at the Reston Community Center, Gallery at Lake Anne (this is a new location).  Following monthly meetings, we sponsor a different program.  To mention a few from last year: “Line Dancing”, the “Art of Photography”, and “Healthy Living” and, we hold two luncheons annually.  One in December and one in May.

In addition, we have activities throughout the month.  As a member, you will enjoy book clubs, bridge, needlecraft group, sewing group, luncheons, dinners, wine tasting just to mention a few. 

We hold Special Events throughout the year for our members and their guests.  Members and their guests cover their own expense.  We hold a BBQ in June each year.  Our 2010 Holiay Gala was a huge success and we plan to host another one this coming December. 

Our annual dues are $30.00, which includes the eligibility to attend all activities and receive a monthly newsletter as well as the club directory.  The club is comprised of women from Reston and surrounding towns.  The club welcomes both new and long-standing members in order to promote friendship through participation in various recreational and civic activities.  A recent comment from one of newer members is a good indication of what you will find in our club, “Finding this club was like opening up a great big Christmas present!”
